This weekend started with a heavy heart from news earlier in the week that our beloved dog, Pepper, was diagnosed with cancer. It was sudden and unexpected news that left Jay and I with heavy hearts, and a lot of tears, for days. Then Hurricane Irma headed towards Florida and my sadness over Pep shifted to worry for my mum and stepdad who live there. Thankfully they evacuated and are safe, as it their home. Needless to say my emotions were sky high.

Nothing like a five year old's busy activity schedule to keep me occupied. This weekend kicked off suburban youth soccer and basketball. The time in my life I have been fearing, the one where your weekends are dominated with kid's activities, is here. It wasn't so bad. I still managed to sneak out for a lovely dinner with my girlfriends. And Chase's first game was shockingly exciting. I surprised myself by jumping out of my seat and cheering the whole game. The small sweet moments this weekend made the big hard ones a little more bearable.

My signature bolognese sauce. A Sunday staple.

New fancy candle. Smells so good.

The love runs deep. Extra foam on the weekend.

Farmer's market finds.

Gorgeous flowers, also from the farmer's market.

New shoes for work. I walk a lot so I needed flats. A departure from the heels I love to wear so I had to make them flashy!

Smelly markers. Chase and I played a fun game to sniff every single one and eliminate down in to yes, no, maybe piles until we found our shared favorite scent...watermelon.

Ice cold White Russians for the parents.
